AITAM - an unique organization in the sense that the very foundation and the objective of this organization was to focus on human resource development in Health and clinical services. Based upon the recommendations and findings of a training needs assessment, initially Family Planning Clinical Services Improvement Training Project was developed in 1991 as a joint venture of USA1D and its five cooperating agencies (CA's), such as, AVSC International, Pathfinder International, Family Planning Services and Training Center (FPSTC), Family Planning Association of Bangladesh (FPAB) and The Asia Foundation (TAF). Later AITAM has developed itself to a major training institute, not only in training but also developed expertise in curriculum development including Training needs assessment, Training follow up, Training impact evaluation and also in training aids and training materials development.

In 1994 AITAM started providing health and population service initially in the urban area through community based static and satellite clinics mainly focusing on reproductive and preventive care.

A1TAM emerged as a national NGO and active in the health and population sectors of the country for the last 18 years. Since the inception attention was given to have an ideal and quality service in Health and population sector. The quality care in the service delivery was mandatory for in-service courses for physicians, Paramedics working in government, private and NGOs.

AITAM is now providing both curative care and community based health services through its hospital and static centers in the community. AITAM has good working collaboration with other agencies in prevention and control of common community health problems and community health development activities- developed itself as renowned institution in Public health sector in Bangladesh.
